The demand for experienced registered nurses is greater than the available supply in many parts of the United States.  The nursing shortage is really not a recruitment issue; it is a supply and demand issue.

In response to these types of shortages in the past and currently, some employers have attempted to recruit experienced candidates outside of the U.S.  But does international recruitment really work?  The answer to this important question is “It depends…”  Much has changed over the past 15 years when it comes to international RN recruitment. The countries from which nurses are recruited have changed, immigration requirements have changed and the demand for international nurses has never been greater!
